I had Friday off work and desperately needed to go to the grocery store. To my excitement, I saved almost $22 with coupons! Hahaha, I should cut coupons more often.(Not gonna lie, I was pretty proud of myself! Never pay retail!)
I also scored these NEW ‘lil gems from Chobani and Kashi I dug into the cereal by the handful this morning, soooo good. Have not tried the new Apple-Cinnamon Greek Yogurt, but will let you know how it tastes soon!
Friday night, I made some chili. I love chili because you can add whatever you want to it, the leftovers, and it tastes better the day after.
Into the pot went:
1lb ground beef ( I have also used turkey, chicken, or made it vegetarian)
2 cloves of garlic
2tbsp of worcestershire sauce
1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
Drain a little bit of the fat, after it cooks(meat is no longer pink)
Then add lots-o-stuff
2 cans of tomatoes (whatever you have!)
1 can of black beans
1 jar of salsa (I always add whatever random salsa I have, but not necessary)
SPICES: chili powder, salt, pepper, cumin, red pepper flakes, cayenne powder, hot sauce.
I have no measurements for spices, just add them at every layer, taste, then add more if it still needs flavor. Chili is all about using what you have on hand and as much or as little as you want.
Bring everything to a boil, then reduce to low and simmer for 30-40 mins. I enjoy mine with shredded cheese and sour cream
